ACT CABS Drugs and Alcohol Policy
ACT Cabs implements and maintains a Drugs and Alcohol Policy.
The purpose of the policy is to provide a safe environment for all ACT Cabs stakeholders.
Certain factors can make the workplace unsafe, especially in the safety critical industry of transport. These issues include the consumption of drugs or alcohol. The consumption of drugs and alcohol can impair judgement and physical coordination. This can affect the safety of the individual under the influence of alcohol and any other person who may be affected by them. It is also against the law to operate a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
This policy applies to all ACT Cabs workers and affiliates including and not limited to employees, drivers, operators, contractors, passengers, shareholders and other stakeholders of the company. It also covers bona-fide sub-contractors, their employees and labour only sub-contractors.
Under clause 9 of this policy, taxi drivers have reporting obligations to ACT Cabs Administration and must report any incident in which they are charged or fined with a DUI offence.
